Rendezvous with Baikal.You will take
a fascinating trip across Lake Baikal with visits to the cities of Irkutsk
and Ulan Ude, Olkhon Island and the Sacred Nose Peninsula, the Pribaikalsky
National Park and Baikalsky Nature Reserve. On the Ushkany Islands you
will have a great opportunity to observe the unique Baikal seal –
the nerpa. You will get acquainted with the history and culture, customs
and way of living of local peoples. The untouched and pristine beauty
of nature and the crystal clear water of Baikal will give you impressions
and memories for a lifetime.
Tour programme:
2nd Day. After breakfast depart for Listvyanka (68 km) on the lakeside to visit the Lake Baikal museum. Accommodation and lunch in the small private hotel. Afternoon motor boat trip across the source of the important river Angara, the only river flowing out of Lake Baikal. Excursion to the old Round-Baikal railroad. Return to the hotel for dinner. Evening wanderings around Listvyanka. 3rd Day. Morning departure to Olkhon by boat. Lunch on board. Short stop at Peschanaya Bay, a beautiful natural sight. Arrival at the village of Khuzhir on Olkhon to accommodate in a home stay. 4th Day. After breakfast visit the museum of regional studies of the Olkhon Island. An excursion to the rock of Shamanka. After lunch free time to explore the island or relax on the sand beach of the Maloye More Gulf. Russian Banya. Dinner at the hotel. 5th Day. After breakfast board motorboat to Chivyrkuisky Bay (Zabaikalsky National Park) with an excursion to the Ushkani Islands, the home of the Nerpa seals (8-10 hrs). Lunch en route. Accommodation and dinner in the floating hotel in Krokhalinaya/Zmeinaya Bay. 6th Day. At leisure in Zmeinaya / Krokhalinaya Bay with opportunities to try the mineral baths, to swim in Lake Baikal, ride pedals (paddleboats) or to fish. 7th Day. Return to Monakhovo by motorboat. Drive to Ust-Barguzin. Accommodation in homes of local families. Enjoy real country cooking and experience authentic Russian Banya. 8th Day. After breakfast an excursion to the Barguzin Valley to see the unique natural Suvo "Saxon" castle and secret place a rock Bukhe-Shulun (90 km). Return to the friendly host families in Ust-Barguzin. 9th Day. After breakfast, departure for Ulan-Ude (260 km). Lunch en route. Accommodation at the Hotel Buryatia/Geser. Free time to get acquainted with the capital of Buryat Republic. Dinner. 10th Day. After breakfast at hotel a guided tour of the city. Visit to the History Museum. Lunch at the local restaurant. Afternoon excursion to the Ivolginsky Datsan, the most important Buddhist temple in Russia. (40 km from Ulan-Ude). Visit to the Buryat Yurt to enjoy folklore entertainment and traditional Buryat dinner. Return to the hotel. 11th Day. After breakfast visit the Ethnographic Museum and see collections of traditional dwellings, clothes and furnishings of all ethnic groups of the region. Visit to the Old Believers' village (a Russian religious group that split off from the Russian Orthodox Church in the seventeenth century) and introduction to the original folklore and cuisine of the Old Believers. Return to Ulan Ude for final dinner at restaurant and overnight at the hotel in Ulan Ude. 12th Day. Transfer to airport for departure after breakfast.
